Thomas Dairy Adapts Deliveries to Digital Age
The delivery drivers of Thomas Dairy, located in Rutland, Vermont, have now set foot in the digital age with mobile computers to accompany them in their activities, and through the use of the Companion® Suite, software implemented by CIS Group.
Whereas a home-made application existed at the office for order taking, the twelve drivers themselves were continuing to work with paper documents. The software now allows all this paperwork to be handled in digitized form throughout the sale and delivery cycle – especially with the electronic signature function to allow completing the process – and ultimately with all this information being automatically transferred, through an interface set up in the Companion® application, to the QuickBooks accounting software.
Another advantage for the drivers is that they have fast and easy access to full customer and product information, including statistics on sales and returns, while they are doing the delivery. Sure to improve their efficiency, the application makes it all instantly available to them on their Honeywell CN70 mobile computer. And with the PB51 mobile printer coupled to it, they can produce a printed invoice if a customer requires it – though a virtual copy by e-mail is increasingly seen as becoming the preferred medium.
